In early 2020, I was hired as an e-commerce photographer for high end vintage designer clothing store in Vancouver, BC. I’ve been working there ever since and really enjoy the work. I shoot on location in the client’s store weekly and i’m proud to offer them turnover within 4 days of the shoot. This short turnover time for allows the clothing store to upload the images immediately, allowing them to get the clothes out sooner. Most clothing stores have limited space, and quick turnover allows them to sell more items.
I shoot with a few different mannequins, provided by the store, for clothing. Hats, shoes, purses and accessories are shot on a seamless background. The client prefers a light grey background for clothing, as this ensures white items stand out against a light grey/blue background. My backgrounds and umbrellas are purchased through Beau Photo, who always have the colour in stock and have a convenient online ordering system.
Shooting e-commerce photographer for high end vintage designer clothing store has taught me so much about shooting for online purchases and I really value the experience and my time at this store.
Over the past few years I’ve really come to value sustainable and slow fashion. After seeing a LOT of brands move through the store, I started to notice which brands held up their quality and timelessness. Most of my closet is now purchased through second hand and consignment stores and I’m a proud supporter of slow fashion.
